About me

I create fused glass art because the interplay of color, texture, and light produces excitement, pleasure, and curiosity.  My fascination with the special properties of glass began as an undergraduate, working with specialized glassware for synthesizing organic compounds.  Much later, I rekindled my interest in glass as an artistic medium and was immediately captivated by using fused glass to create objects of interest, beauty, and utility. I create items that fall into two general categories -- items that are engaging to the eye and functional for everyday use; and items that bring attention to the beauty and wonder of the natural world.  In 2016, I studied with multi-medium artist Mark Hufford and learned techniques for combining enamel paints and glass fusing, which provide new ways to capture the three-dimensional world.

I work at my home studio and have sold items by displaying them at the City Art Shop at the Kentlands Arts Barn (Gaithersburg, MD).  My creations were also selected by a jury for: 2017 -- an individual exhibit (Arte di Primavera) for the City of Gaithersburg at the Kentlands Arts Barn; 2016 -- an individual exhibit (Best of the Best Gaithersburg) for the City of Gaithersburg at the Activity Center at Bohrer Park: 2015 -- a group exhibit (Vertical Glass) for the 2015 City of Gaithersburg Visual Arts Exhibit at the Kentlands Arts Barn; 2015 -- an individual exhibit (Shades of Geometry) for the City of Gaithersburg at the Kentlands Arts Barn.
